Finished Panel II

Finished Panel II today...no problems here...hope the rest of it turns out like this...and forcing myself to put it down til after finals...

Ahh! I should be studying!

My yarn for the Lovely Lacy/Heirloom Shawl showed up this weekend:

I decided to go with Knit Picks' Palette Yarn in Blush. And instead of studying for my finals that are in about two weeks...I started working on the shawl. The free pattern on Canadian Living is loaded with errors and it was a pain in the butt to realize that. I did find a site that helped a lot on the Knitters Review Forum. So after a lot of ripping out and restarting I finally finished Panel I:

It actually turned out to look somewhat like the picture on the website. Heh...This thing is stressing me out though...I keep doubting the pattern which isn't so fun.

So It Begins

It has been a while since I started something new...something close to 5 months? I've just been so busy and indecisive. ^_^ But I've finally picked out the projects that I'm going to make:

Rogue
This is the most challenging thing I've tried...But I'm so excited about it. I saw the completed sweater on so many other knitters' sites and so I bought the pattern a couple of days ago and am waiting for my PayPal to clear. It looks so cool with the celtic cables. *so excited* I'm pretty sure I'm going to use Bartlett Yarn's Glen Tweed 2-ply.

Miss Dashwood
Saw this and couldn't resist. I know I don't have a kid, but I'm so happy I know so many people who do ^_^. One of the leaders at my church just had a baby girl, Michaela (not sure that's how she spells it, but I know that's how Dr. Quin spelled her's), and this thing has her name written all over it. Yarn wise, I think I'm going to go with some sort of Debbie Bliss (cuz its soft and cuz her mom's name is Debbie ^_^)

Considering:
Lovely Lacy Shawl
aka the Mount Everest Shawl. This thing has so many detailed instructions, but it looks so amazing completed and its also HUGE! Most likely going to go to my mom since she keeps asking me for shawls.

Supple Rib Knit Arm Warmers
I'm tired of typing and coding with cold arms...-__-

Nippertails
I think this would be great for ski/snowboarding trips. Or just keep my head warm in this insane weather.

So yeah, these guys should keep me busy for a while. I'll keep y'all updated. Wish me luck! ^_^

Past Completed Projects

I learned to knit back in my freshman year and I've been knitting for about 2 years now. It sounds like a long time, but it isn't really...heh. With my schedule it's hard to find time to knit, but here are some of the projects that I have actually finished:

The Booga Bag
The booga bag was really easy to finish. And it's worked out nicely. I feel like I need to felt it a few more times to get it to my desired texture. But its a great bag for me to throw my things in and get going. I made the matching digital camera case by knitting a 2.5" x 8" strip and sewing the sides together. I still have a bit of yarn left over so I think I might make an iPod case too.
Things I'd do differently next time:
- Use a smaller needle size or a thicker yarn. I decided to go with Cascade 220 because I wanted solid colors, but the stiches were very loose.
- Try to find some way to attach a zipper so things don't spill out so easily.

PoA Scaves
What collection is complete without some Harry Potter Prisoner of Azkaban scarves. The Ravenclaw was for myself and the Gryffindor was for my roommate Sylvia as a Christmas present. I knitted the Ravenclaw in Encore and the Gryffindor in Perfect Match. Despite the fact that Perfect Match was a slightly cheaper yarn, I think it turned out better because than the Encore one cuz after washing, the Encore one has all of these little lint balls on it where as the Perfect Match doesn't. The Perfect Match also maintains its shape better.

Clapotis
This was the first shawl I made. I don't remember what yarn I used but I didn't realize until the end that I messed up on the very last section. Instead of ssk, I k2tog, and yeah...it didn't turn out so symmetrical. I really want to make this again in black or a shimmery black yarn. I think it'll look really elegant. No picture cuz I gave it away. It looked better on my friend Irish than it did on me. -__-
Things I'd do differenly next time:
- Repeat section 3 ten or eleven times only, rather than the suggested twelve. It ended up a bit too long.
- Use thinner yarn. The yarn was too thick and made the knit portion curl a lot, hiding the drop stitch portion when it is worn.

Wavy
I knitted this for my roomate Cece for Christmas. I really liked how it turned out. I think I used Simply Soft. It was a great yarn and it had a great shimmer to it. My roommate loved it because I made it in red. I messed up a few times, knitting the same row one too many times. But after a while it was easy to remember the pattern or see what should come next. I really like this ribbed design. I think it'll look great on a pair of gloves.

Cozy
I made this one for my mom. I used the Pound of Love yarn I found at Michaels' because my mommy's skin is so sensitive. It was the softest and most hypoallergetic yarn I could find. It took forever to finish because I kept screwing up the pattern, but it turned out beautifully in the end. Sorry, didn't get a chance to take a picture before giving it to her. I'll try to get one when I go back home.

There's also a bunch of stuff I crocheted (I learned crocheting about 3 months before knitting), but there wasn't anything too spectacular about those projects so I'll maybe post them at a later time.

Welcome

Welcome to my knitting blog. After browsing through so many knitting blogs I was really inspired to start my own. So here it is!
